Account & Talent Profiles FAQs

How many different talent field profiles can a member post?

Members are welcome to post profiles in as many talent fields as apply to the services the member offers. As of April 15, 2005, artistschair.com offers 17 main talent fields and 108 subcategories.

How often can members update their profile(s) and account information?

Members have the ability to update their profile(s) and account information as often as they wish. The artistschair.com database was designed as an automated system, allowing members to perform updates from the convenience of their own computer at their own pace.

If an artist lives outside of Northeast Ohio, can one still join as a member?

Yes. Artists living outside the Northeast Ohio region are welcome to join artistschair.com. A long-term goal set for Phase III of artistschair.com is to explore and research the formation of partnerships with other artistic communities within driving distance of Northeast Ohio (e.g., Pittsburgh, Detroit, Columbus, Dayton). It is our hope that if artistschair.com decides to pursue these alliances, they will allow both Northeast Ohio and other cities to explore one another's talent and creative resources, thus expanding opportunities for artists to secure work and broaden their network of connections.

Once a member posts or makes a change to their profile, how quickly will it appear on the site?

Changes to a member's profile will appear immediately. Members need to be aware that once they leave the page the change was made on and go to view it on the database that they may need to press the "F5" button on their keyboard to refresh the screen in order to view the change.

Is the content of a member’s profile approved prior to being posted?

No. As stated in our Terms of Use, members are responsible for their own communications and are responsible for the consequences of their postings. Prior to becoming an artistschair.com member, members agree not to post material that is copyrighted, unless they are the copyright owner or have the permission of the copyright owner to post it; post material that reveals trade secrets, unless they own them or have the permission of the owner; post material that infringes on any other intellectual property rights of others or on the privacy or publicity rights of others; post material that is obscene, defamatory, threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, or embarrassing to another member or any other person or entity; post a sexually explicit image or statement; impersonate another person; or post material that contains viruses, trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancel bots or other computer programming routines or engines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept, or expropriate any system, data, or information. If at anytime other members or visitors to the site believe that the content of a particular profile is questionable, they are welcome to contact me either by telephone at (216) 281-7451 or by e-mail at jeon@artistschair.com.

If a member practices more than one discipline that falls under the same main talent field (e.g., a stage and film actor), why must they complete separate profiles for each subcategory (e.g., Actors – Stage and Actors – Film) as opposed to including all of their information and credits on one profile?

By encouraging members to highlight their disciplines in separate profiles, artistschair.com is able to provide those searching for talent with a concise and easy means to view information about candidates who offer services in the specific talent field they are looking for. To ensure that a user knows the other talents a member may offer each member's profile page contains a listing and link to other talent profiles that member has featured in the directory.

Can members suspend their profiles from public view for any given amount of time?

Yes. If a member is traveling, working on a project for an extended amount of time, is on hiatus, or does not want the profile(s) publicly viewed for a given amount of time, the member can simply check (and uncheck at anytime) the "Hide profile" box found next to that profile listing by logging into their account.

Does artistschair.com ever sell or trade members' e-mail addresses or other account information?

No. We do not disclose to third parties members’ personal information of our members, combined personal and demographic information, or information about their use of the artistschair.com site. We use the information we gather on the artistschair.com site, whether personal, demographic, collective, or technical, for the purpose of operating and improving artistschair.com.
